Attendance
Attendance, Punctuality and Absence
Children should arrive in time for the start of school. Use of the register allows the school to monitor pupil attendance and punctuality. Ideally pupil attendance should exceed 95% of the year, anything less is found to have an effect on attainment and progress.
Phone messages from parents regarding absence are requested on the first day this occurs. If a message is not received before 10am a member of the office staff will call the parent.
The Education Welfare Officer visits the school to check registers and can follow up any concerns.
Children will not be allowed to leave the school premises, during normal school time, unless they are collected by a parent.
Holidays
Families are encouraged to try and avoid taking holidays during school term as this interrupts pupil education (particularly during tests).
Parents may request taking holiday during term time by writing a letter to the Headteacher explaining the situation and complete a holiday request form. If the holiday is to be authorised by the school the form will be signed by the Headteacher on behalf of the Governors.
The school cannot authorise more than ten days in any year. Where a pupil has a high absence rate authorised holiday may not be granted.
